Catherine + Kenny’s stunning at-home wedding in Columbus, Georgia was truly a show-stopper. From a lucite dance floor atop the family’s backyard pool, to a life-size replica of the couple’s dog, Beau, as a groom’s cake– this day had it all. Exquisitely planned by the renowned M. Elizabeth Events of Birmingham, this day will live on as an all-time favorite for our team!
Catherine and her bridesmaids got ready at the Illges House in Downtown Columbus, with the help of Kerri Bunn and her team. The girls sipped Veuve in matching lace dresses, excited for the day ahead. When the bridesmaids were dressed, the girls made their way to Catherine’s family home.
Catherine’s custom-designed Anne Barge gown hung from the ceiling of her childhood room — its accompanying train and bow (saved for the reception) lay neatly on the bed. Catherine slipped into her gown with the help of her mom and sister.
Catherine walked down the home’s spiral staircase to show her bridesmaids her gown — their reactions were priceless! Soon after, Catherine + Kenny shared a first look in the front yard.
The two were married at Trinity Episcopal Church in downtown Columbus, with both of their childhood ministers presiding.
Following their vows, Catherine + Kenny left the church in a vintage Bentley and made their way to Catherine’s childhood home for the reception.
What awaited guests at the Hudson home was a truly spectacular sight with no detail overlooked. Guests were greeted with oysters, hors devours, and the couple’s signature gin cocktail — “The Beau’s Knees” — an homage to their beloved dog. In the backyard, a sprawling white tent beautifully adorned with green and white flowers covered the lawn. In the center, a lit, lucite dance floor sat atop the pool.
We snuck away for sunset photos on the golf course before digging up the bourbon that Catherine + Kenny so wisely buried a few months prior. Safe to say, the old tradition worked!
The couple danced the night away with family and friends, enjoying passed fries, milkshakes, and ice cream balls as the night wore on. As the last song began, a confetti cannon enveloped the dance floor, signaling the end of a fantastic night. Catherine + Kenny ran down the front steps through a shower of rose petals, before cruising down the driveway as cold sparks shot into the air.
