After (literal) years of pandemic postponement, middle school (!!) sweethearts, Alex and Frank, finally tied the knot in a truly beautiful riverside ceremony just before sunset. The Bibb Mill in their hometown of Columbus, Georgia was the perfect backdrop for one of my favorite weddings of 2021.

Alex and her bridesmaids got ready at the Illges House in Columbus, and the happy tears had already begun to flow when I got there. The girls sipped champagne in coordinating PJs as Molly Todd touched up their hair and makeup.

Tears continued as Alex’s mom buttoned her into her gown and her bridesmaids caught their first glimpse of their girl!

One of the sweetest moments of the day, though, was watching Alex’s dad react to seeing his daughter for the first time. The two shared a hug and several sobs– I don’t think anyone in that house could stop themselves from crying right along with them.

Afterwards, it was off to Bibb Mill for the rest of their beautiful day.

Alex’s bridesmaids wore coordinating floor-length olive dresses by BHLDN. The bouquets featured craspedia, berries, wheat, and an array of colorful flowers, and were lovingly crafted by Alex’s dear friend and bridesmaid, Katherine of Gather Wild Design.

Alex and Frank shared a first look in the Bibb Mill gardens before skipping over to Bibb City for portraits.

Their ceremony was truly one to remember. With a backdrop of the Bibb Mill ruins covered in creeping fig and beautifully decorated by Glen of Albright’s Florist, the sun set.

Both of Alex’s parents walked her down the aisle to exchange vows with Frank. Dear friends read sentimental passages before the officiant declared them legally married, and they walked back down the aisle as guests threw flower petals.

During cocktail hour, guests sipped signature cocktails (one, an homage to the couple’s Basset hound) as the sun set. Alex changed into a truly spectacular jumpsuit with a cape for the reception!

Alex and Frank, you two are so wonderful and I’m so thankful to call you friends. Cheers!
