Margaret + Morgan’s wedding day was, hands down, one of my favorites ever. There’s just something about beautiful backyard weddings that makes me giddy (especially when that backyard is actually a farm that the bride grew up on, the same farm that’s been in her family for generations), and when the couple is as wonderful as these two.
When I first arrived, nearly everyone in Margaret + Morgan’s families were hard at work, putting all the final details together. Nathaniel, (Margaret’s nephew and ring bearer) rode around their property in his little tractor with Elmo riding shotgun, Margaret’s mom arranged a table topped with wines (made by Margaret’s dad!), family friends crafted boutonnieres, and countless family friends worked to have everything perfect for the day. Weddings at home are no joke– they’re a labor of love (I know, I had one myself!) and family + friends make the day run smoothly. Margaret + Morgan are lucky to have a lot of both!
Margaret’s mom, sister, and nephew helped her get ready, and the look on little Nathaniel’s face when he saw her was priceless. I love the bond that Margaret + Nathaniel share because it reminds me so much of the one I have with my nephews, and it makes me so happy. Margaret wore a veil that has been worn by countless other women in her family, though it looked like it was made to go with her Casablanca dress. Absolutely gorgeous.
Margaret + Morgan met in between rows of pine trees for their first look, and it was perfect. We then wandered around the property, stopping in front of the “Bee House”, an old antebellum home that Margaret’s parents recently moved to the farm and are restoring. It’s amazing. We headed down to the lake, too, taking in the perfect weather.
The ceremony took place in a clearing surrounded by pine trees just as the sun set. Morgan’s dad officiated and close friends read. It was fantastic.
Next, guests headed to the Bee House for mint juleps and appetizers. Morgan’s brother gave a wonderful toast and completely OWNED the loving cup, a gorgeous silver cup engraved with the names of Margaret’s family members who were married before her. So cool.
Dinner took place under beautiful tents, on tables topped with gorgeous succulent arrangements and hand-painted table numbers. Pies (DELICIOUS PIES) made by Margaret’s cousin Jan replaced a wedding cake and the 10:30 Band had everyone (including the kiddos) dancing the night away.
Margaret + Morgan, your day was awesome. I am SO GLAD that I had the opportunity to photograph it and I wish you both a lifetime of bliss!!
