Kimberly + Peter // Georgia Wedding Photographer // Korean and Catholic Wedding

Kimberly + Peter’s love story is one that has been 8 years in the making. They met through mutual friends and dated long distance (Peter in Illinois and Kimberly in Georgia) until after college, when Peter moved to Georgia to be with her. Their love is so sweet and genuine – just like the two of them – and to see the way they looked at each other throughout the day brought a lump to my throat.

The common theme throughout their day, no doubt, was love and thankfulness. For their each other, their friends, their families, and the traditions that they hold dear. It was also so unique (in many ways), most notably the Korean wedding ceremony (paebaek!) Truly, it was amazing. Kimberly + Peter wore traditional Korean attire and engaged with each family group. My personal favorite tradition was the throwing of the dates and chestnuts. Let me explain: each family group threw a handful of dates and chestnuts, while Kimberly + Peter held a sheet of fabric and attempted to catch as many as they could. The dates signified the number of girls they’d have, and the chestnuts, boys. I want to say that at the end, Kimberly + Peter collected around 39 children – ha!! It was great. Family members then gave their advice for a happy life and marriage. It was awesome.

Following the hanbok, Kimberly + Peter had a traditional Catholic ceremony at Holy Family. Then, the party began – a beautiful reception at the Columbus Museum. Side note: you’d never know it, but it poured off and on throughout the day – but Kimberly never batted an eye! A true testament to her personality and priorities.

Kimberly + Peter, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of such a wonderful day. Cheers to a lifetime of bliss!
