Hanging around with Katie Jacobson in her Bibb City studio was truly just what I needed. Her messy but beautiful approach to art and life is refreshing — a far and welcome cry from my usual projects. Katie is a bit of a wanderer – in the very best way – and has spent he last few years calling different cities “home”, but she’s back in her hometown (for now) and spends her days in this killer studio nestled in Bibb City, alongside her boyfriend and pup. The natural light, original ceilings, and painting-plastered walls make her studio a painter’s (and photographer’s!) dream – it’s no wonder that she has been churning out incredible work from within these walls! That, and her studio is right next door to that of Courtney Johnson (Bent by Courtney) – an incredible jeweler, whose pieces Katie is wearing in these first few images. The artists that come out of Columbus never cease to amaze me – hopeful to be able to document more studio sessions in the future!
