Celebrating Change // Columbus, Georgia Wedding, Engagement, and Maternity Photographer

Holy smokes, friends! 2014 has been nothing short of crazy/ incredible/challenging/awesome. I have met amazing couples, families, and business owners all throughout the Southeast and have been a part of some of the most exciting times of their lives. Throughout all of it, one thing has been so apparent: I really am living my dream.

Several weeks ago, I attended a truly exceptional workshop, Gather Athens, hosted by (and attended by) some of the most talented female creatives in the Southeast. One of those hosts was my own wedding photographer and someone whom I really admire—Kaitie Bryant. Though I loved each and every presentation, it was hers that really hit home for me.

While I won’t go too deep into how her presentation affected me, I will say this: it confirmed and validated a feeling and change I’ve been struggling with and considering for some time now.

Beginning in 2015, I will photograph only weddings, engagements, and a limited number of maternity portraits.

Why?

There are a few reasons:

1.)  That’s where my true passion lies.

While I so enjoy photographing families and children, there’s nothing quite like the feeling I get when photographing couples in love and the beauty of pregnancy. It’s what I really, really love.

2.)  I’ll be delivering the very best product and experience to my clients.

By specializing in areas that I truly love and taking a limited number of weddings and sessions each month, I’m able to ensure that the images I deliver are of the highest standard, and that my clients have the very best experience from start to finish.

3.)  2015 is filling up FAST.

I can’t believe how many dates have already been filled for next year’s calendar. I’ve received inquiries as far out as October 2015 (crazy!) So if you’re gettin’ hitched or havin’ a baby, get in touch!

4.)  Homegirl needs a break (and so does her husband + pup).

I’m tired, y’all. Don’t get me wrong—I love my job tremendously and am so blessed to be able to say that. However, lately, I’ve felt kind of like a Stretch Armstrong doll—stretched a little too thin. By focusing on what I love, booking in advance, and managing expectations, I can make sure that my calendar, my sanity, and my business remain in tip-top shape.

So, what does this mean?

1.)  I will no longer be accepting inquiries from families that I have not previously photographed.

2.)  Existing clients will (of course) remain clients and scheduled sessions will (of course) be honored. This is more of a “from now on” type of situation.

3.)  I will accept a limited number of weddings and maternity sessions each month.

Who should I get to photograph my family?

Our area is so very blessed in the sense that there is no shortage of photographic talent. I would love to share a list of amazingly talented photographer friends that would be a joy for you to work with.

Again, I can’t thank you all enough for the overwhelming support I’ve received for EMP. I really and truly am living the dream and I don’t take it for granted for even a second.  Now, onto photographing more amazingness!
